Brook's Birthday!

For Brook's birthday, my mom, Aunt Joi, Brook and I went to Riverside to hit the spa! It was such a relaxing day. While mom and Aunt Joi gambled for a bit, Brook and I shopped and took full advantage of the spa :)  I hope you had an amazing birthday Brook, and have the best year ever! Love you!

Mommy's Kitchen Helper

I truly do not like to cook, but I do love to bake (when I have the time!). Beau is now at the age where he loves to help, and always wants to be part of the process of making dinner. We love this! So for his treat at school, we made brownies. He likes doing it all! Cracking the egg, pouring the flour, turning on the mixer, etc. He can do it all (almost) :)

Ornery at Grandpa Scott and Grandma Chelle's

Scott and Michelle watched the boys for us the other weekend so we could celebrate our 5-year anniversary. The boys loved playing with their toys that we keep at grandma and grandpa's, but Beau's favorite "toy" is playing instruments at their house. He loves to sing and pretend to be in a band :)  Baine, well Baine still prefers to eat baby wipes as his toy. Yes I know, my child is weird :)

Big Brothers Are Better Than Super Heroes

It is hard to tell by the picture (it was at night and the boys were sleeping), but Baine was very sick with a double ear-infection and punctured eardrum a couple of weeks ago. Beau was so worried about Baine, that he INSISTED on sleeping on the floor right next to Baine's crib. He said "Baine will feel better if I am right next to him, that way I can talk to him and sing him to sleep." Beau is most definitely a protective big brother and is absolutely in love with Baine. I hope he stays his protector forever :)

Star of the Week

Last week, Beau was Star of the Week at school. This means he was in charge of treats, and bringing in a poster that had pictures of all of his favorite things, and he was able to bring a guest on Thursday.  I was so excited when he told me he wanted mommy to be his guest! I normally am not able to endure the excitement in school for him. Joe is the one who takes him to pre-school, and Michelle picks him up everyday and they have their special date over lunch. I don't get to do any of it :( As much as it breaks my heart, I will take any of the little moments I can get! Beau showed me all around his school (even though we have been there 2 years now) and went through and explained all of his pictures on his poster.

Miss Richelle asked him a few questions:
"Beau, do you have any nicknames?"
-"No. But my daddy calls my baby brother JUNIOR!"
"Beau, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
-"A doctor like Dr. Posthuma!"
"Beau, what is your favorite color and your favorite food?"
-"Blue. And I like pizza with chips on it!"

Pizza Night

The other night Dena came over to make homemade pizza, and to have family night. She is SOO good with Beau and Baine, especially Beau.  Beau loved helping Dena make pizza in the kitchen. He is all about cooking these days :)

A Case of Bad Hair

Both boys, unfortunately, have terrible bed head in the morning. There was no avoiding this, since Joe and I both have very thick, course hair!

Soccer Season!

I cannot believe Beau is old enough for soccer! Wasn't he just a baby yesterday?! He has improved GREATLY over the past week. Even though I know nothing about soccer, I do know that he is getting better and finally starting to show his athletic capabilities :)

Joe's 30th Birthday

Joe's 30th Birthday was a great time! We went to Des Moines for the day. Brunch at Americana, trying to escape from the Escape Chambers, dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant, and then a night out downtown with friends, made for quite the eventful day! I cannot believe Joe is 30 already. It seems like yesterday when we were dating that he couldn't remember his age when he tried to tell me he was 21, which he clearly was not! :)

Easter 2016

Easter was so fun this year with the boys. Beau and Baine had a great time with the Easter egg hunt at church, my dad's and my mom's.  We celebrated with my dad and Grandma Betty the night before Easter, and my mom on Easter day. While the Easter egg hunt was fun, the "Easter bunny gifts" were cute, I still want to make sure my boys understand what the real meaning of Easter is. I tried explaining it to Beau, and it did not resonate at all. :) He was only concerned when Jesus was going to bring the Easter Bunny to our house. Okay, so he doesn't totally get the real meaning, but he's on the right path, right?! :)

He was thrilled to take "selfies" with Aunt Brookie

Easter Bunny

I was pleasantly surprised to see how well both boys did this year seeing the Easter Bunny. I really thought Baine would cry and be scared, but total opposite! He kept trying to rip off the bunny mask as if he was thinking "I know you're not a real bunny! Who the heck are you?!"

Farming Season Has Begun

I took the boys out to my moms to play outside, and so Beau could help Nana pick up sticks in the yard. He was so excited when he saw Den-Den had his sprayer out! He batted those blue eyes, and asked to go for a ride in the field. He was so excited to be a big helper on the farm. I hope he still wants to be "a good helper" when he is older :)
