Lazy Summer Mornings

Beau has discovered a new love for playing Angry Birds on the TV during our lazy, summer mornings this year. He loves to win more stars and move the next level-which surprises me how competitive he really is. Baine absolutely loves to watch Beau play. When Beau's bird crashes and falls to the ground, Baine will crack up with his belly laugh. It is the sweetest thing ever to see. Our two sons bonding in their PJ's, laughing together, talking to each other, and truly enjoying their time together. This is what I live for in the summers--to see this constant bonding time (except for the days when they are hitting/biting/crying) :)

Rough Day

Baine definitely is hitting the "terrible 2's" already. When he does not get his way, he will let you know exactly how he feels about it. It is definitely his way or NO WAY! He was mad the other day because he couldn't fasten the clip on his bike helmet. I helped him do it, but he threw it off his head because he wanted to fasten it. He is definitely giving me a run for my money :)

Sleeping Babies

I absolutely LOVE to go in a cuddle with the boys at night. I even love it at times when one, or both, of them come into our bed in the middle of the night to snuggle. I am quickly realizing they won't be little forever, and they won't want to snuggle with mommy forever in bed. I want to enjoy each of those moments I can!

Baine's New Hideout Spot

Baine is starting to realize that he knows when he has to go potty. Instead of telling me has to poop, he now runs and hides in his tent and does his business. SO ORNERY!!!!

Our Little Swimmers/Baine Going Down the Slide

I cannot believe how well both boys are doing in the water this summer. Baine is just as fearless in the water as Beau. He goes off the diving board by himself, and now even goes down the slide by himself! I think swim team will be in our future :)

Family Night at Monkey Joe's

Before going back to work, Joe and I wanted to take the boys to do something fun. We asked Beau where he would like to go, and he wanted Monkey Joe's. While normally it is a fun location for kids, this particular location was a little run-down and a few of the inflatables were torn and deflated. The boys still had fun running around, climbing and jumping all over. It was fun to see Beau not being so shy around new kids and excited to show us tricks on the inflatables :)

Iowa State Fair 2016

We love going to the Iowa State Fair every year. Okay, Joe doesn't as much, but I definitely do. I love to people watch, eat food that is horrible for you, and just be in the fun atmosphere. We went last weekend and stayed the night at my mom's camper. It was such a fun night---I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.  The boys' favorite part of the fair at their age, is riding the tractor up to the general store and picking out candy :)  Hey, I'll take that while it lasts!

Farmer's Market

Joe and I love going to the Farmer's Market in Des Moines. We were finally able to make it up there a couple weekends ago, and it was the perfect morning for it. As long as Baine was eating, he was entertained (imagine that!). Beau was still tired and felt that as the older brother, he needed the stroller more than his 1 year old brother. :)

Popcorn Night at Nana's

The other night after swimming, the older kids asked Nana to make "clean, fresh popcorn". They love to sit by the popcorn machine, or on the stairs, and watch it pop.  They really are easily amused :)

Sweet Corn Serenade

Osky has a tradition of having a Sweet Corn Festival in early August every year.  Given Joe's profession, there has been no doubt that our boys would love sweet corn. They practically live off of it in the summer. Now at the festival, they had rides and games for the kids to play on. Beau and Baine loved riding in the wagon train, and Baine could not understand why he couldn't drive :).  Maybe someday buddy!

Got Sunscreen?

While Beau was at grand camp with Nana and Den-Den, Joe and I took Baine boating for the day to give him one-on-one time. He was getting fussy and needed a nap, which never happens when are on the boat! So we put him in the swing hoping that would do the trick. Needless to say, he entertained himself by grabbing a full bottle of sunscreen, opening it with his mouth, and got it EVERYWHERE. He was trying so hard to put the sunscreen on his face, arms, and belly so he could go swimming. End result, it was all in his eyes. Poor buddy!
