Charleston Trip: Day 2 Magnolia Plantation

The 2nd day of our trip was one of my favorites. We went to Magnolia Plantation, and we could have stayed there for days. It was unbelievably beautiful. The azaleas were in full bloom. The weather was absolutely perfect. Everything was still open. The sweet tea was freshly brewed. And the Souther hospitality was divine. I would highly recommend anyone going here. Brook and I walked the garden paths for hours, did the plantation house tour, walked along the water, and soaked up as much history as we possibly could in this one day.

Charleston Trip: Day 1-Part II

Since we were nervous things would be shutting down (and they did eventually) we wanted to do as much as we could right away. So on our first night, we did a carriage ride and ghost tour.  It was fun to ride around downtown and hear more about the history and just take in the beautiful scenery. We went to a fun pub right off King Street and had to have the jambalaya of course!

Charleston Trip: Day 1- Part 1

Once we arrived in Charleston, it was only noon so we had the entire day. We were so excited to be there, that as soon as we got to the hotel we didn't even wait for our room to be ready. We checked our luggage in and headed downtown to start exploring. Our hotel was right on King Street-which is where all the entertainment is in Downtown Charleston. Everything was walking distance for us and oh did we get our steps in! Our first stop for the day was just walking around, exploring, eating the best crab cakes ever and of course, delving into true southern sweet tea---my absolute favorite.

Charleston Trip: Arriving at our Destination

To celebrate my sister's 40th birthday (she doesn't even look a day over 25), she wanted to go to Charleston, SC. And of course I wanted to go too since I love the South so much! We decided to make it just a sister's trip. So thanks to her airline miles, and my dad for using his hotel points, our trip was totally covered in those areas---thank you Brook/Austin and dad!

Our flight left early on Tuesday morning, and due to the Corona Virus outbreak, a lot of people had canceled their flights. We pretty much had the plane to ourselves--and we weren't complaining. (Yes we still went on our trip. We left before we all knew how bad it really was, and we weren't going to let it ruin Brook's birthday trip).

Pedicures for Brook's Birthday

Brook and I have been doing pedicures for our birthdays for years now. And one of our favorite spots, is Pella Nails right outside of Des Moines. So the night before we left for our trip to Charleston, we made a pit stop to continue our tradition and get pampered :). Since Austin dropped us off, we were planning to just Uber back to our hotel. Unfortunately, Uber drivers were slim that night due to the Covid 19 already. So one of the workers at the salon offered to give us a ride home. I still can't believe we did that. But it's now something we will remember forever :)
