Klompen Classic 2013!

I have ran the Klompen Classic for years in the past, but starting last year, I convinced my sister, Brook, to start doing them with me.  For this only being her second race, she rocked it!  And, even took 8 1/2 minutes off her time!  So proud of you, Brookie!!!!  This has become a fun tradition for us, that I hope we keep for many more years down the road.  Even though this weather was NOT fun to run in, we still made the best out of it that we could.  Cannot wait for next year!

40 degrees out and blowing wind = freezing race!

A Sunday With Ducks and Ice-Cream!

Yesterday was a perfect Sunday afternoon---it was sunny, warm, and a filled day with family activities.  After church, Joe and I did some yard work outside while Beau napped.  After Beau's FOUR hour nap (I think Nana wore him out this weekend!), we met up with Brook and Banx at the cemetery to feed the ducks.  Beau LOVES feeding the ducks and he is getting quite good at throwing the bread to them.  Beau screamed and cried once it was time to leave.

After feeding the ducks, we all went to Frosty Udder to enjoy delicious ice-cream.  Beau quickly decided he did not want to share with Banx, nor did he with anyone else.  He threw his spoon on the ground, climbed on the picnic table, then took over Joe's ice-cream.  Hello "terrible twos"!
Here is a video of his stubborn reaction to the ice-cream....

Date Night with the 80's!

Friday night, Joe and I went to the "Rock of Ages" play at the Civic Center.  It was wonderful!  It was by far the best show I've ever gone to.  I think Joe felt right at "home" since his favorite music was in this musical.  Thank you so much mom for getting Joe the tickets for his birthday!  It was a wonderful date night and a well needed one at that :)

Weekend with Beau and Banx!

Last weekend, I had Banx pretty much all weekend (Friday she stayed at my house over night, I took her to our cousin's baby shower Saturday, then had her over again Saturday night and had her all day Sunday).  Everyone kept asking me on Monday if I was worn out or exhausted from having both kids all weekend.  The truth is, I loved it!  And it's great practice for the future :)  I'd do it every weekend if I could.

I love how close she is to not only Beau, but me as well.  I know from my own experience how special and important aunt/niece relationships are, and I am beyond excited to know that we will forever be close!  Her and Beau play so well together---even though they both love to torment the other at times.  This summer I will have Banx four days a week.  I am so excited to have those times with her and to watch her grow up with Beau.  Clint,  Caleb and I are very close cousins---yes, we can be trouble at times---and I just know that Beau and Banx will be the same :)

So here's to summer, it cannot get here fast enough to let the "trouble" begin!
No shirt and high heels is her kind of outfit apparently :)

As sad as it is, this is the only good picture I got of the two from the weekend.  Sharing a chair at the dinner table waiting on their breakfast :)

18 Months!

I cannot believe that Beau is 18 months old now.  It truly seems like yesterday I was in the hospital with my newborn.  Parents always say that it goes by fast, and you never understand the reality of that until you have a child of your own.  Everyday Beau is learning something new.  He is really starting to get ornery and LOVES playing with other children.  He keeps saying "baby" all of the time---I think this is his hint for Joe and me :).  Here are a few things Beau has been doing lately....

-He weighs 27 pounds and is 35 1/2 inches tall (off the charts for height!)
-He can say these words on his own: Macee, mama, dada, nana, Mickey, blankie, binky, Barey (Barney), egg, pease (please), tan you(thank you), baby
-There are many more words he can repeat after you say them to him, and of course some of his talk still sounds foreign :)
-Beau is such a boy, and by that I mean he LOVES being outside and riding in any type of motor vehicle (tractor, lawnmower, four-wheeler, etc.)
-If you say "Beau, jump!" he will get a huge grin on his face and jump as high as he can!
-He is running all over the house!
-He loves to say "Cheeee" when getting his picture taken

Here are a few recent 18 month old pictures...

Reunion With the Roe's!

This past weekend, we had a very special family come visit all the way from Texas---our favorite Roe family!  David and Betsy quickly became special role models in my life and were "fill in" parents in college since I spent every day and most nights with them while being their nanny for the twins.  Whenever Joe and I get the opportunity to see them, I get so excited that I can't sleep for nights before their arrival!

Caitlin and Caleigh are growing up so fast.  They are both almost as tall as me, and Caitlin and I wear the same size shoe already!!!  Hard to believe that they are almost old enough to babysit Beau---where has time gone?!

We met the Roe's for lunch on Saturday and spent the afternoon catching up and reminiscing on old memories.  Their visit was far too short, and I am already anticipating when I can see them again.  Seeing them interact with Beau gives me comfort to know how much they love Beau already.  We are truly blessed to have David and Betsy in our lives as they have been my solid rock through many sad and happy moments over the past few years.  Cannot wait to see them this summer!

Beau was such a flirt with the girls!

Love my family :)

Fun Days at Miss Mary's!

Quite often, Miss Mary will send me pictures of Beau playing or doing something VERY ornery.  I love getting this pictures and updates while I am at work---it gives me such a great piece of mind knowing that Beau is in amazing hands and having so much fun with his friends!  I am grateful everyday for having a wonderful daycare provider! :)

Here are some pictures Mary sent me from this week...
He LOVES getting baths and insisted he needed one at Mary's :)

He definitely is "king of the castle" :)
