A few weeks ago, Harvey was hit by a car right in front of our house. It was awful and so traumatic for everyone in our family--especially the kids. Thankfully, Harvey was only hit and ran over on his back legs. He survived, and currently is thriving. At first, the vets didn't think they would be able to save both of his back legs, as one was broke at his growth plate and the other leg was de-gloved. We (actually Joe) made the decision to take Harvey to Iowa State immediately to get him the best possible care. And I am so thankful we did. They were able to fix Harvey's broken leg, and are hopeful it will heal normal, and they even saved his de-gloved leg. It is actually healing already and has some fur! It is just crazy!! After being at ISU for 10 days, Harvey was discharged and is now home. He has to go get bandage changes every 5 days for now, and we hope after a few more weeks his broken leg will be all better.
